Project Details
The development comprised the folllowing:
- Construction of a new 10 storey apartment building including carparking and ground floor commercial premises
- Retention of existing heritage facade
Challenge Faced / Engineering Problem Solved:
- Convict mine workings were discovered during grout injection of piles
- Variable founding depths due to convict workings required detailed pile assessment with geotechnical engineers
- Provision for temporary support systems to heritage façade whilst constructing new concrete frame and suspended floors to provide new lateral façade support

Construction systems used included:
- Building supported on reinforced concrete grout injected piles
- Reinforced concrete pile caps, ground slabs, footings and tie beams
- Conventionally reinforced concrete columns, shear walls, cores and stairs
- Post-tension suspended concrete systems
- Heritage façade retention using existing supports and new structure
- Precast concrete loadbearing cladding panels
