Project Details
The development comprised the following:
- Construction of a horse pool, sand rolls, and associated infrastructure
- A new sand racing track for equine training
Challenge Faced / Engineering Problem Solved:
- Stormwater runoff from uphill catchments needed to be considered in the design of drainage infrastructure for the sand track. MPC designed improvements to the existing surface drainage as well as a new pipe culvert and basin
- Civil engineering designs for the horse track required consideration of proximity of the earthworks plant from overhead power lines. MPC prepared drawings and diagrams of the proposed works for inclusion in submissions to the Electricity Authority for approval to work under the high voltage power lines
Safe Strong Stable Solution
Construction systems used included:
- Reinforced concrete Pool
- Site pavement improvements
- Site stormwater infrastructure and Sediment basin
