MPC were engaged by Newcastle City Council to conduct a structural engineering investigation of the structural integrity of the heritage masonry building.

MPC’s investigation process included close-up inspection of the heritage façade masonry using an elevated work platform and traffic management controls, investigation of the structural integrity of defective (termite damaged) timber flooring, and inspection of timber roof framing within a controlled asbestos environment.

At the Client’s request, MPC conducted an assessment of the structural integrity of the existing building, prepared designs for minimum structural strengthening works required to the building for safe access, and prepared design and documentation of additional structural strengthening works required to convert the building into A-Grade office space.

The documents produced by MPC included detailed building elevations showing locations of specific heritage masonry repair works, schedules of repair work requirements, and structural drawings of major building strengthening works.
