The Boathouse Tea Gardens

MPC’s design of this river-side apartment development involved the following structural and civil design services: Shoring methods using driven timber mini piles in sand were used as an economical temporary retaining wall solution until the ground floor slab and walls could be constructed; De-watering of the site was carried out to allow for basement excavation and construction of piled foundations; Basement slab design accounted for hydrostatic pressure using continuously reinforced one-way slabs and beams in conjunction with a proprietary tanking system underneath the slab; Precast concrete loadbearing walls and ‘Ultrafloor’ precast flooring was used to improve speed of construction, Cantilevered structural steel roof framing achieved the desired architectural effect.
