Segenhoe Stud Facility, Aberdeen NSW

Segenhoe Group Pty Ltd commissioned Ladd Hudson Architects to design new barns, lunging ring and associated infrastructure for the existing stud at Aberdeen. MPC were engaged to provide full structural design and documentation for the works. The new buildings typically comprised concrete footings and slabs, pre-cast concre wall panels and structural steel roof framing. The design emphasis was for a building system that met the architectural requirements for aesthetics and functionalisy, yet enabled quick construction with pre-fabricated elements. New “Tyrrells West” Barn – incorporating 13 new horse boxes, tack room and amenities; New Yearling Barn – comprising 20 horse boxes, vet facilities, laundry and tack room, wash bay, offices and stores; New Mare & Foal Barn - comprising horse boxes, vet facilities, intensive care rooms, wash bays, offices, tack rooms and storage rooms; New Lunging Ring – incorporating an octagonal building plan arrangement, steel-framed roof, concrete ground slab with retained sand, plus an external observation platform.
