MPC provided structural engineering design and documentation services for the proposed new sporting pavilion located at No.2 Sports Ground in Newcastle NSW. The pavilion incorporates office space, function rooms, dressing rooms and catering facilities, with a long-span cantilevered roof system. The concourse seating was designed using purpose-built Ultrafloor pre-stressed concrete seating plats to maximize efficiency. MPC provided structural analysis of the building for wind and earthquake loads, as well as flood water pressure and mine subsidence effects. Construction of the facility commenced in January 2011, with MPC providing site phase assistance during the construction process.
