MPC were contracted to provide structural and civil engineering design and documentation services for a beachside commercial development in Merewether, Newcastle. MPC carried out consulting services with CronePartners Architecture Studios for this reinforced and post-tensioned concrete structure. The project had numerous site challenges including designing the building to be partially embedded into an existing embankment, designing for suitable foundation systems that could be installed with limited site access, and ensuring adequate specifications were provided to ensure that site corrosivity issues were addressed to ensure adequate design life for this beachside structure. MPC utilized the DINCEL proprietary wall system for foundation walls due to their watertight performance and speed of erection, and used steel screw piles due to their limited site plant requirements to limit site spoil, and for their speed of installation.
