Expert Witness – Residential Boundary Retaining Wall Dispute, Fingal Bay NSW

MPC provided structural engineering expert witness services for a matter involving a claim for damages over an existing timber log retaining wall on a common residential boundary. MPC’s services included conducting ongoing site investigations of the effected areas, preparation of expert witness reports, and attendance at mediation sessions at the request of the plaintiff.

Insurance Investigations (Burst Water Main) – Structural damage to residential units, Elermore Vale

MPC were engaged by the Insurer to conduct engineering inspections of extensive damages to residential units and common areas of a unit development effected by a burst water main. MPC provided an individual repair Scope of Works document for each effected unit and the common property elements. The “Uretek” resin injection system was used for the filling of large voids beneath the floor slabs of the units that were undermined by the excessive groundwater flows experienced during the burst water main event.

Insurance Investigations – Residential flood damage reports following the June 2007 Storm, Newcastle

A significant number of properties sustained extensive damages as a result of the storm event in Newcastle in June 2007. MPC were engaged by a number of Insurers through their assessors, MYI Freemans, to conduct structural engineering investigations into damages sustained by a large number of properties, and to prepare a scope of works for repair of the relevant damages.

Expert Witness – Residential Building Quality Dispute, New Lambton Heights NSW

MPC provided structural engineering expert witness services for a matter involving a claim by a home owner against a builder for inadequate construction of a proposed house extension. MPC’s services included a detailed review of the project documentation, inspection of the as-built structural elements, and preparation of a comprehensive report outlining the areas where construction was adequate, where it was not in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards, and what additional works or repairs were required.

Expert Witness – Transport Facility Building Quality Dispute, Cameron Park NSW

MPC provided structural engineering expert witness services for a matter involving a claim by a transport company against the builder of a new transport depot and associated infrastructure. MPC’s services included a detailed review of the project documentation, inspection of the as-built structural elements, preparation of a comprehensive report outlining the areas where construction was adequate, where it was not in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards, and what additional works or repairs were required. MPC, in conjunction with another engineering consultant, participated in a joint expert witness conference and the subsequent preparation of a Joint Expert Witness Report at the request of the Court.
